Dear Nancy Clark,

My name is Kobe Saquicela and it is currently my 2nd semester at CCNY. My intended major is mechanical engineering and my career goal is to work for a large aeronautical company such as NASA. I have been challenged and interested in various courses in my first semester at CCNY, therefore I would love to deserve a grade of B or higher in all of my classes. Another short term goal would be to create an e-commerce website before the semester ends. A long term goal would be to graduate with a bachelor in mechanical engineering. Knowledge in Calculus, Thermo-Dynamics and Physics will lead me to know more about by job and how I can improve machines to perform at a higher capacity. Hopefully, with my degree and knowledge, I can receive a great position at any respectable company.  Another long term goal would be to have my own company in engineering. I hope to impact million and make the world more eco-efficient and affordable. A dream of mine is to have the ability to create a car that can fly and go against the law of physics. It would have a great impact on society such as the Iphone did in 2008. My future will hopefully be filled with great memories with my family and success with my career as a mechanical engineer. With many surprises and obstacles, I hope to be a much wiser and influential figure. The role of mechanical engineering will have a great role in society today and in the future since manufacturers will need to find more efficient ways to design construct and use machines we use today and will continue using in the future. For example, mechanical engineering has played an important role in the revolution of self – driving cars. Companies such as Tesla have hired mechanical engineers to design and construct cars that are autonomous. This can impact civilian on the road who drive daily. In future reference, there have been missions designed for astronauts to land on Mars before 2030. Rockets are built by mechanical engineers to withstand the journey between Earth and Mars. With Mars being within our reach, hopefully we can reach other planets within our solar system. This idea really catches my attention due the fact of over-population, global warming and war playing a major factor on the stability of earth and its environment. Colonization and exploration to different planets throughout the Milky Way Galaxy can lead to a new perspective on how we live our life. Movies such as Inception, Interstellar and the Martian have improved my knowledge on time and space. Knowledge in Calculus, Thermo-Dynamics and Physics will lead me to know more about by job and how I can improve machines to perform at a higher capacity.
