                                                                  Reflection

When creating the lab report for Bananas, I had to make sure to keep it very organized and it had to follow APA format. There always had to be a running head title on the top left corner of every page, along with a page number on every page on the top right. In addition, it had to specifically order in Abstract, Introduction, Materials, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Citations. Each step had to be broken apart into separate paragraphs. I was motivated in completing this project because it was essential information I could use for future references. In addition, it was my first Lab Report in College so I had to perfect the lab so I wouldn’t stumble on future Lab Reports. Science is a very interesting subject alongside Math, and this particular experiment could help me save my fruits and food from rotting. My hypothesis for the experiment was that the Banana would ripen the slowest in the refrigerator. I hoped to back up my hypothesis with valid results. In addition, I hoped to have fun and see the results of the three bananas every day for the remainder of the four day experiment. I also learned many facts about oxidation and ethylene gas. The main reason for the ripening of Bananas is because when oxygen come into contact with the hormones that release ethylene, which causes the enzyme to change the color and the texture of the Banana. These science facts basically explain why our fruits turn brown and then black.

The audience is scientist and students who plan on learning more about chemical reactions. The facts and results may lead to scientific discoveries in other fields. The relationship between me, the audience and the medium is that we deal with Scientific methods and want to learn more about our respective fields. We want to discover a cure, create artificial fruit or end global warming. We all are or at least once were students. After handing in my lab report and receiving my results, I definitely learned from a couple of errors that I made throughout the lab report. First of all, I misplaced my running head and the page numbers. I should definitely be more careful organizing my information and ask a student for advice or help on peer editing. Another issue was writing in past tense since the experiment already occurred. This is a huge problem since I realize I do this often. Finally, my works cited page was incorrect. This was due to the APA format style. There is many APA formatting online that could help me reference titles on future lab reports. In all, I really learned from my mistakes and actually corrected them to see how a perfect graded lab report would look like. This lab report helped me focus more on APA style since I usually use MLA formatting.
