Reflection
When creating the technical description for glasses, I had to make sure to keep it very specific and organized. I had to make sure to keep it APA format because if I didn’t then it would affect my grade. Following my lab report, I had full knowledge of the requirements needed to complete a technical description APA style. My technical description was separated into the title page, the introduction, body, conclusion and citations. I was motivated in completing this assignment because I have been wearing glasses ever since I was in school. If it wasn’t for glasses then I wouldn’t be able to see clearly from far away. The invention of glasses allowed be to play basketball and read many articles.
Throughout this analysis, learned that glasses are very complex and have been innovated upon for centuries. Glasses first started off as a piece of glass connected to one of your eyes to a glass frame that is connected to your ears and has two pieces of lenses which lay upon your nose through a bridge. I was surprised to learn that Benjamin franklin was credited to the creation of the glasses. His discovery of the bifocal lenses were a major technological advancement in his era. This allowed people who suffered from either far sightedness or near sightedness to be cured. For near sightedness the lenses diverge light rays to reduce the eyes focusing power. For far sightedness, the lenses converge the light rays, which increases the focusing power. As time progressed, glasses weren’t only for seeing but also a state of fashion. Glasses would soon turn into many forms such as sunglasses, aviators or contact lenses.
The audience is people who wear glasses or plan on getting glasses. The relationship between me and the audience is that I wear glasses and plan on wearing them for the rest of my life. Therefore, this builds a form of trust between me and the audience, whereas if I didn’t wear glasses, it wouldn’t exist. After studying and researching glasses, we want to improve the frame and effectiveness of the lenses. Providing a pair of glasses for the 4 seasons would be a great plan in the future. No need for glasses, sunglasses, swimming goggles and safety goggles since it all comes in one. After receiving comments on my draft I realized I had to be more specific and thorough on my information. I was missing information on bifocal lenses and how they scientifically worked. By fixing the issue, I was able to improve my paper. This assignment was a great way to make me realize how important glasses are and how they have been present for many centuries.
